About Rotary Club of Hinsdale

The Rotary Club of Hinsdale is...
A community organization of men and women of diversified backgrounds whose personal commitments to service range from support of local youth programs to assistance for the impoverished of the world. Founded in 1959, we meet weekly at Friday luncheons to enjoy fellowship and stimulating programs, discuss projects and plan future activities.

International Service
We actively support the Rotary International Foundation, an endowment fund that awards graduate, undergraduate, teacher and journalist scholarships for travel and study abroad.

The RI Foundation also provides special grants support for major immunization campaigns, health care, nutritional and humanity projects on four continents. Through Rotary’s PolioPlus program nearly two billion children throughout the world have been immunized.

Hinsdale Rotary has provided financial and leadership assistance for five sun ovens in three underdeveloped countries and a water supply system in Mexico. We have also provided assistance for disaster relief, medical care and other international humanitarian projects.

Funds for our international and community service projects are raised through the annual Hinsdale Rotary Run Charity Classic, a local race scenario that offers 10K, 5K, and 3K runs through the village, as well as walks and "strolls", including a "Mutt Strut". We also host our
hot dog stand at our Hinsdale art fair and many other functions. In 1999, we formed the Hinsdale Rotary Foundation to accept tax-deductible contributions.

Fun and Fellowship
Fellowship plays an important role in the life of our club. Theater parties, progressive dinners, holiday parties, picnics, ballgames and other events provide memorable times of fun and fellowship for our members and their families.

Community Service
Locally, our club supports a wide range of community programs and organizations, including Hinsdale Community Service, Hinsdale Graham Center, Bikes for MilitaryKids, and the Peoples Resource Center. We serve as July 4th parade participants and run the Hinsdale Turtle Races during that event, and our cleanup crews work on the banks of Salt Creek with our Adopt A Stream project.

Hinsdale High School Scholarships
Each year, our club presents scholarships for leadership and service, fine and performing arts and careers to three outstanding Hinsdale Central High School students. We also present Youth Merit Awards to high school and middle school students with exceptional academic, athletic and leadership achievements.
